NDA members support after school programs, receive educational training, support teachers in the classroom, assist in support and development of students, and facilitate school operations directly serving students. Each Service Site varies in its service description. At our after school sites volunteers work to mentor, tutor, and coordinate for at risk students.
Gateway U:
Gateway U is a new college support program located in Newark, NJ. Gateway U partners with Southern New Hampshire University to provide personalized coaching to students enrolled in high-quality, online, project-based degree programs. At Gateway U, we work to improve socio-economic mobility through an affordable and accessible college choice. We are committed to providing a high-quality academic experience, flexible course work, and a community of supports (including wraparound services and career guidance) to ensure students graduate faster and with little to no debt - no matter if they’re 18 or 65. Responsibilities include:
- Student coaching- supporting academic progress and goals
- Student Enrollment and Admissions- outreach to prospective and current students
- Community events & more
"I Have A Dream" Foundation:
In partnership with 13th Ave. Dr. MLK Jr. School, work “alongside and in support of the school’s administration and current community partners, IHDFNJ’s goal is to identify and understand the needs of 13th Ave students and their families so that we may contribute long-term social and academic support.” Responsibilities include:
-Develop and implement after-school and Saturday Academy STEAM programming.
-Recruitment and retention assistance via outreach and promotion.
-Assist Teachers with academic classes in after-school and Saturday programming. Assist with culminating events.
-Administrative duties; data entry, attendance tracking, collecting report cards, ordering supplies, assisting vendors, setup and breakdown of classrooms.
