Description
Position Overview:
To assist with the daily delivery of high quality and effective afterschool programming for the members of The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central NC-Franklin and Franklinton Units. Provide a positive out of school learning experience by providing access to and creating academic resources and enrichments, providing encouragement and being a positive role model. The 2018-2019 program year will run from August 7, 2018 through July 31, 2019.
Qualifications:
• Experience working in an academic setting
• Possess an open mind to the capabilities of and futures of all students
• Have a willingness to persevere and support a student regardless of obstacles
• Must be able to work independently to complete projects
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, counseling, or related field is preferred
• Valid driver’s license and insurance
• Technologically proficient in all office technology systems
Responsibilities
• Assist with the delivery of curriculum and programming through partnership with Franklin County Schools
• Assist with activity planning as needed, lead student groups, participate in program’s special events
• Assist with the delivery of research-based, appropriate and safe programming; ensure that curriculum aligns with The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina and provides differentiated opportunities for learning
• Follow NC Literacy Corps guidelines and contract
• Assist with the delivery of school-day tutoring and homework support
• Ability to identify and work with students who possess a high need for academic improvement
• Create an effective assessment tool to measure program goals
• Work with Unit Director to monitor attendance, growth and progress of students daily
• Recruit, screen and train volunteer tutors in conjunction with The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina
• Assist with other academic support programming as needed

literacy tutoring for K-12 students

leadership skills
networking
Additionally, Members plan and participate in service projects as part of AmeriCorps National Identity Days, as well as SCALE events, including:
Day of Service based on Make a Difference Day
Read.Write.Act. Virtual Conference
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
National Literacy Action Week
AmeriCorps Week
AmeriCorps Full-Time Members will provide 1700 hours of service with a 12 month commitment, while receiving a living allowance of up to$13,732, and upon successful completion of the 1,700 hours and other AmeriCorps requirements, would be eligible to receive an educational award of $5,920.
