WE ARE STILL RECRUITING FT POSITIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES:
Durham, Orange, Guilford, Franklin, Wayne, and Buncombe.
The 2018-2019 program year will run from August 7, 2018 through July 31, 2019.
We have positions available for 17 full-time, 10 half-time, and 12 minimum-time AmeriCorps members who serve on college campuses and community sites throughout North Carolina.
Our priority service areas include:
providing skills development training to economically disadvantaged adults in
adult basic education (ABE),
general educational development (GED),
English to speakers of other languages (ESOL);
recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer literacy tutors;
and increasing literacy skills in K-12 students.
Service requirements vary by position and all NCLC AmeriCorps members are eligible for an educational award upon successful completion of service hours and other AmeriCorps requirements (See individual position descriptions below for details.).
Members also receive a broad range of free training on the following:
program management,
volunteer recruitment,
literacy tutoring for K-12 students
diversity
leadership skills
networking
Additionally, Members plan and participate in service projects as part of AmeriCorps National Identity Days, as well as SCALE events, including:
Day of Service based on Make a Difference Day
Read.Write.Act. Virtual Conference
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
National Literacy Action Week
AmeriCorps Week
AmeriCorps Full-Time Members will provide 1700 hours of service with a 12 month commitment, while receiving a living allowance of up to$13,732, and upon successful completion of the 1,700 hours and other AmeriCorps requirements, would be eligible to receive an educational award of $5,920.
