Goal of this Position: To develop a network of trained community volunteers that support extended day and year programs at Promise Zone schools, a geographic area encompassing four elementary schools on the south side of Springfield, Ohio.
Successful individuals in this role are outgoing, supportive coaches for volunteers engaging with Springfield Promise Neighborhood programs and initiatives. They are self-motivated, able to multi-task and work on multiple projects at the same time; can navigate diverse cultures, norms, and barriers; and have strong communication and teambuilding skills.
Projects include: developing a network of trained volunteers who support programming at area schools. Developing recruitment, training, and engagement strategies for volunteers & a manual for volunteer engagement. Partnering with schools to develop needs and desires related to youth enrichment & engagement activities. Enhancing summer program activities that can be expanded or replicated to area schools: developing a series of strategies, activities, & events that support the needs and desires for summer programming expressed by school administrators, families, & children. Knowledge of child development or elementary education recommended but not required.
