Description

The AmeriCorps Program is currently seeking a motivated individual to serve full-time (~33 hours per week) for one full year as a City of Moscow Sustainability Technician AmeriCorps Service Member. The goal of this position is to enhance the sustainability efforts and actions of the City of Moscow.

Responsibilities of the position include working cooperatively with the City Commissions, City Staff, and counterparts in other agencies and institutions as needed. Candidates should be self-starters who are familiar with and committed to the tenets of sustainability and should have the ability to compile and analyze data related to various types of projects, specifically the City’s Green House Gas inventory (training opportunities are provided) and the Water Conservation Program. Additional duties include implementing the City’s Internal Recycling Program and assisting with Public Information and Education programs.

Living Allowance

$963 - $963 monthly

BENEFITS: • Living stipend of up to $12,530 paid over one full year • Education Award of $5,775 – to be used for educational expenses (tuition, books, living expenses, past student loans, etc.) • Training in a variety of areas • Health Insurance (if eligible) • Child Care Benefits (if income eligible) • Interest paid on all or part of qualified student loans (accruing interest) during year of service. • Loan forbearance for those currently paying on student loans during year of service.

Desired Certifications or Qualifications

To be eligible:
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
• Be able to complete 1700 total hours over one full year. Start date September 1st 2016.
• Pass a Background Check.
• Possession of a Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer skills using Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher.
• Speaking and hearing to exchange information and communicate effectively.
• Standing for long periods of time.
• Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds
