The AmeriCorps College Coach at Carroll College will serve as a professional mentor supporting student success, through the active utilization of existing program and resources. The College Coach will aim to involve community member's campus-wide to spread awareness of available resources and support. This position will coordinate outreach, educational support, and accessibility of resources such as housing and food, while also creating and enhancing specific mentoring-based programs for students.

Service Activities

The College Coach at Carroll College will assist in the maintenance of the online job board, Handshake, and provide support at a variety of special events offered by the department. These events include advising and registration events, global learning initiatives, (Career) fairs and Expo’s, Etiquette Dinner, etc. The member will assist in the creation and reactivation of a PEER Advisor mentorship program, including recruitment, training, and ongoing maintenance of a PEER Advisor program. During the Fall semester the member will post, research, provide workshop(s), training or updates for students for acquiring scholarships to assist students in funding higher education. During the spring semester, the member will focus on providing resources for students regarding financial literacy and student federal aid resources.

Community Need Addressed

Food insecurity in the greater Helena area, and academic support for low-income and first-generation students.

Supporting low-income and first generation students at Carroll College by removing barriers like access to housing, food, and transportation.
