Habitat for Humanity’s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. The goal of the Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin VISTA program is to strengthen local affiliates and increase their capacity. With passion, commitment, and hard work, our VISTA members help affiliates as they bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Volunteer Program Development VISTAs help affiliates expand and strengthen their volunteer programs. They assess the affiliate's current program and identify needs and opportunities. Then, working with staff and current volunteers, develops a formal volunteer program to address those needs, including recruitment, tracking, scheduling, training, and recognition.

Service Activities

Program assessment, volunteer recruitment, volunteer scheduling, developing the volunteer orientation and training program, volunteer management, creating a volunteer recognition and retention plan.

Community Need Addressed

Lack of safe, affordable housing and homeownership opportunities for low income families.

Position Outcomes

Increased volunteer capacity, enabling the local affiliate to serve more families, completing needed repairs for current homeowners or building homes and promoting homeownership.
