Description

Racine Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Located in southern Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Michigan, Racine is convenient to both Milwaukee and Chicago, IL. It is home to museums, theater companies and other arts organizations, as well as several Frank Lloyd Wright buildings.

The goal of this VISTA project is to develop a formal volunteer program for both construction and ReStore that meets the needs of Racine HFH and the volunteers, with a focus on recruitment, data tracking, and volunteer satisfaction. Project objectives for this position include:
• Explore the volunteer program and resources that are currently in place and identify best practices from other programs, including the creation of a Young Professionals Group
• Develop and document a formal volunteer program that will address the needs of the host site. The plan should address recruitment, tracking, scheduling, managing, retention and opportunities for volunteer feedback.
• Implement the new volunteer program. Test and evaluate the various parts of the volunteer program developed and make revisions to the program as needed in order to ensure success.
