For over 30 years, the Conservation Trust for North Carolina has helped save the places you love – streams, forests, farms, scenic vistas, wildlife habitat, parks, and trails. We work with local land trusts, landowners, and communities to protect these natural treasures, so that all North Carolinians can enjoy safe drinking water, clean air, fresh local foods, and recreational opportunities, for generations to come. By doing so, we promote greater individual and community health. Read More

  • About Us
Conservation Trust for North Carolina seeks to inspire and enable people to build resilient, just communities. A resilient community is defined as one where people are meaningfully engaged and empowered, where leadership is responsive to community needs as defined by its residents, and where its people are able to respond to climate-related disasters by rebuilding or adapting in ways that make them stronger and more prepared for future challenges.

In 2019, CTNC's board and staff committed to a new mission focused on conserving land in ways that inspire and enable people to build resilient, just communities. Alongside community partners, we are committed to a process that increases funding for land and water conservation, factors the impacts of climate change into long-range plans, increasingly connects conservation to individual and community needs, and seeds equity and inclusion throughout the conservation sector.
  • Our Impact
The primary impacts of CTNC's services result in land acquisition for protection and conservation, and environmental education and building capacity for resilience due to changing climate in local North Carolina communities, from the mountains to the coast.

Conservation Trust for North Carolina Programs

Resilience Corps NC

The Conservation Trust for North Carolina is the host organization for Resilience Corps NC, a 11-month national service program in environmental education, community capacity building, and disaster resilience. Resilience Corps NC is also an AmeriCorps Disaster Response Team, designated by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Resilience Corps NC aims to meet our partners where they live and where their culture flourishes. In addition to achieving your needs and goals as an organization, Resilience Corps NC has four main program goals: (1) Developing environmental education programs that are more accessible and inclusive for diverse audiences; (2) Providing capacity building for organizations and communities to become disaster resilient; (3) Building bridges between environmental organizations/programs and under-served communities; and (4) Connecting more North Carolinians to the outdoors
