NC Climate Action Corps Member

Members will contribute to an organization's internal capacity to deliver new services to communities as it relates to their unique climate needs. These service activities will take shape over the course of the member's term and cover climate issues such as urban heat islands, flooding, wildfires, storm-water management, and tree canopies plantings. Members will be responsible for community outreach and direct project implementation as it relates to specific climate work in their communities.

Service Activities

Service activities will consist of community outreach and education, climate project implementation, data collection, and volunteer management (where applicable).

Community Need Addressed

As North Carolina confronts the climate crisis, these positions will address the local capacity needs by nonprofits and governments to facilitate community conversations and implement climate resilience projects.

Position Outcomes

Members hired under these positions will add to the scale and scope of outreach efforts on climate resilience plans for local communities, or implement effective new strategies on projects related to climate. At the end of the service year, members will have significantly contributed to increasing the organization (nonprofit, town, or city) response to the climate crisis.
