To serve Youth in a Conservation Minded Employment and Educational Experience

About Us
Corps members camp and serve in the backcountry of Western Colorado. Corps members earn a weekly stipend, plus food and lodging when required to camp at project site. Career training takes place primarily in a backcountry setting and involves building and maintaining trails and fences, invasive species removal, and habitat restoration. Learn to camp, cook, orienteer, and live in a community setting. Corps members also have the opportunity to earn up to $2,865, in addition to a weekly stipend, from an AmeriCorps Education Award (restrictions apply). Member must not engage in any prohibited activities as listed in the AmeriCorps Member Service Agreement

Duties
• Must be willing and able to camp at least 4 nights per week
• Successfully complete new Corps Member Orientation and CPR/First Aid Training
• Complete conservation projects throughout Western Colorado
• Must be motivated, responsible, and have a positive attitude
• Willing to cook at camp site when necessary
• Must participate in WCCC education program
• Participate in WCCC wide volunteer events

Physical Requirements
• Lifting 30-50 lbs
• Hiking up to 8 miles per day
• Be willing and able to run a chainsaw and use hand tools after appropriate training
• Must be able to complete arduous work in adverse weather conditions

Qualifications
No experience necessary! However, you must:
• Be a United states citizen or permanent resident
• Be available full time between the dates specified on the Member Service Agreement
• Be between the ages of 17-25
• Able to pass a pre-service National Criminal History check (State, Sex Offender, and Federal)
