Description
Our Food Pantry team operates our Catino Choice Food Pantry, which provides families and individuals access to no-cost food. Individuals may choose what they take home, within guidelines based on household size. In this role, you will provide direct service to neighbors seeking food assistance as well as background support to pantry operations, such as sorting donations, stocking shelves, and leading volunteers. Our pantry team also supports our network of Conference food pantries and closets, coordinates programming in our Teaching Kitchen, leads our Christmas and Thanksgiving food distributions, and oversees our community garden. You will have the opportunity to serve in each of these areas, which will be a mix a direct service and behind the scenes support.
This position is part of the Vincentian Volunteers of Cincinnati (VVC) program, a faith-based, year-long, residential service program, providing young professionals in their twenties an opportunity to grow in faith, friendship and service by giving deeply of themselves to individuals and families in need. VVCs serve full-time in a unique work placement with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. They live together in a house provided by the program, in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati, walking distance from SVDP’s Neyer Outreach Center.
