POSITION SUMMARY
The Pre-K Literacy Tutor is embedded into a classroom of children ages 3 – 5 to develop children’s early literacy skills in preparation for Kindergarten, serving alongside a teacher. Tutors are trained in research-based early literacy strategies and collaborate with the classroom teaching staff to enhance daily literacy opportunities and conduct literacy assessments to increase the number of children on target with early reading predictors. Most positions are funded through AmeriCorps.

Education Requirements
GED
Desired Certifications or Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
All professional backgrounds and/or majors are encouraged to apply. College coursework is preferred, but not required.
At minimum, candidates MUST:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalency
• Have served no more than 3 previous AmeriCorps terms
• Be a US Citizen, national, or permanent resident legal alien
• Be fluent in American English (reading, writing, speaking, listening)
You MUST NOT be a registered sex offender, or be required to register on any sex offender registry.
