The SCI AmeriCorps program connects youth with relationships, experiences and resources they need to succeed. Our Members support youth achievement through volunteer outreach and capacity building that provides leadership training and community service opportunities for youth.
SCI AmeriCorps is currently looking for members to fill Youth Leadership Coordinator positions for a 1700-hour service commitment between September 2020 and June 2021. Since 2007, SCI AmeriCorps members have served at various host sites, who are aligned with the mission of Social Capital Inc. The YLC will serve as leaders to a youth council, increase the capacity of host sites to implement social capital building, youth engagement and community service-learning as strategies to achieve high educational outcomes.
When you join AmeriCorps, you’ll earn money towards past or future education, learn to be a leader, and gain real job skills. SCI AmeriCorps members build social capital in their communities through civic engagement opportunities, and gain valuable experience in the process.
HOST SITE OPPORTUNITY ─ Girls Inc. Of Lynn
The SCI AmeriCorps member will:
~ Serve as Advisor to Part of the Solution Peer Leader group whose focus is primarily on substance abuse education and prevention and youth leadership in the city of Lynn.
~ Develop skills such as community organization, event coordination, and public speaking with youth Peer Leaders through community service and educational outreach opportunities
~ Support the implementation of Girls Inc. Friendly PEERsuasion curriculum within the Girls Inc. building and the LifeSkills curriculum in the Lynn community.
~ Promote collaboration between Lynn and the surrounding communities through shared substance abuse prevention interests to expand the impact of our youth council.

Able to commit to Full-Time service in local communities with diverse residents
Effective communication skills to conduct community outreach through marketing strategies and civic engagement
