Description

This position will serve out of the Child Abuse Prevention Center in Sacramento, CA. The VISTA member will have the opportunity to enhance and expand existing child abuse prevention efforts carried out by the Birth and Beyond (B&B) Family Resource Centers. The B&B FRC Network has a history of reducing the incidence of child abuse within low-income high-need communities. The VISTA member will work on increasing parent involvement in the programmatic decision making process through the Parent Leader program to actively engage and retain families in the B&B program, as well as cultivate leadership opportunities. The VISTA member will also design and implement a comprehensive community outreach strategy to increase awareness of local and statewide child abuse prevention efforts.

The VISTA member will focus both on leveraging resources and increasing access to services by: 1) marketing and outreach to increase participation in B&B's Parent Leader program; 2) design and implement outreach strategies to increase awareness of child abuse prevention efforts; 3) solicit donations which support CAP Center programs through employee giving programs such as United Way; 4) leverage in-kind donations and investigate potential grants to improve parent leadership in the B&B program; 5) train and develop Parent Leaders to become effective participants in the B&B FRC planning and program improvement process.

$990 - $1720 monthly
