The Montana State University Office of Student Engagement aims to create opportunities for MSU students to engage with the student body and community. Through programs, events, and community service, the Office of Student Engagement strives to empower students and generate leaders on campus, in the community, and in life after college. The AmeriCorps member will serve as a College Coach to address retention and attainment by addressing student’s questions and concerns about moving off-campus. The AmeriCorps member will provide advising and resources around off-campus housing options including finding a roommate, property manager relations, and rental education.

Service Activities

As an AmeriCorps member, you will work with the Montana State University Office of Student Engagement to assist low-income students living off-campus. Specific activities targeting off-campus student assistance include hosting weekly advising hours (up to 20 hours per week), maintaining the College Pads website, maintaining a database of students seeking roommates, and hosting 2 events/programs that help students obtain the resources to move off campus. You will also help execute the Good Neighbor Program through attending monthly meetings, distributing information, and collaborating with the City of Bozeman. You will also consider relationships with landlords and Off-Campus Student life by meeting with local property management companies and hosting 2+ information sessions for landlords throughout the academic year.
