Description
Rochester Community Schools is a cross-sector partnership focused on supporting student success in three sites of the Rochester Public Schools. A key strategy in our work is addressing the health and wellness of students and their families. It can be challenging for families to make healthcare a priority when common barriers including transportation, cost, and availability stand in the way. And when these needs are met, students can better attend, learn, and succeed. With our team, you will develop systems to link physical, social, and emotional health systems. First, examining the current data collection process at the three community schools, then working with Mayo Clinic researchers and professionals to analyze this data and seek cross-partner solutions. Finally, the VISTA will develop and administer a health survey to assess the current health status of the students, in partnership with University of Minnesota Rochester students. During this year, the VISTA will support the ongoing health efforts of our team, gaining valuable experience in health system development with the professionals in our medical, education, nonprofit, and public health partners. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor . Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
