Description
Anoka-Ramsey Community College is an open-door, comprehensive higher education institution committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Anoka-Ramsey is committed to responding to the educational needs of its changing communities and to providing opportunities for enhancing knowledge, skills, and values in a supportive learning environment. This VISTA project grows out of the work of the Mosaic Center, an educational hub designed to promote cross cultural learning and appreciation with the campus community. This VISTA project will focus on supplementing the resources available in the Mosaic Center, a space dedicated to the success of students of color and first generation college students, by developing a student resource center focused on addressing students’ basic needs. The goal of this project is to increase low-income and underrepresented students’ access to health, nutrition, and other non-academic resources on Anoka Ramsey’s campus. We know that our students would like a good foundation for academic achievement and a healthy productive life and with the implementation of a student resource center, we will make those supports available. ---This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program, operated by Minnesota Campus Compact. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, food, and basic needs through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. --- ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor . Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
