Something I really enjoy in my service year is…

I don't think I could have made it this far without my fellow members. We know how to cheer one another up on hard days. We have inside jokes and phrases that can always make us smile. We listen to the Mulan song I"'ll make a man out of you" to get mentally prepared for work we don't look forward to. This is the closest I've felt to having best friends since graduation high school. We are just over a third of the way done with our term in Texas but I am already dreading having to return home to Florida and being hundreds of miles away from everyone. I've lived in Texas longer than I've lived in my house in Tallahassee. I don't know how I'll return to normal life after this. Working retail or food service and going back to school... I've gotten used to being outside doing really hands on work; and though it can be absolutely miserable somedays when I think of the alternative it seems like I am so fortunate to be doing what I am doing. Although this work isn't quite what I had in mind for my service year it has been the experience of a lifetime.
