Description

Manchester is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the state of New Hampshire, having served as a refugee resettlement community for the Northeastern United States. Community colleges often provide the greatest access to higher education, and serve as a starting point for low income individuals to attain a college education. If that “starting point” includes a welcoming environment, strong connections, guided pathways to access services and support, and links to leadership opportunities, then the likelihood of persistence and student success is greater. The MCC VISTA’s work will focus on promoting success for students of culturally diverse backgrounds who attend Manchester Community College. The MCC VISTA will have the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with Student Support Services, Student Life, and Academic Success staff to further develop the Multicultural Center on campus.
