Description
The City of New Orleans VISTA program is implemented by the Office of Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the Mayor’s Office of Transportation (OT). The City is seeking passionate individuals to build capacity to break the cycle of poverty and empower our community. New Orleans is a welcoming city with a unique culture, plentiful natural spaces, and a reputation for hospitable and friendly residents. The Mayor’s Office of Transportation is designed to ensure coordination among departments and external partners to promote transportation priorities that encourage safety, equity, regional connectivity and multi-modal accommodations to provide for the future prosperity of the City and its residents.
The goal of the project is to build out the objectives of the Moving New Orleans Action Plan, which aims to create a more safe, equitable, connected, and efficient transportation system for New Orleans. The VISTA member will have the opportunity to work on a variety of dynamic projects that aid in the effort to form people-centered, equitable streets for New Orleanians, create original communications and engagement efforts, and solidify the Office’s Equity Plan.
Member Duties:
Throughout one year of service, the VISTA member will work with the Mayor’s Office of Transportation to develop and implement a robust and effective communications and engagement strategy for the Office, assist with the implementation of the Moving New Orleans Bikes project, and conduct research for streetscape improvement projects.
