Description

Casa Verde Builders(CVB) at American YouthWorks - YouthBuild, is addressing climate change by combining green building, affordable housing, and renewable energy in Austin, Texas. We are doing a rolling monthly enrollment. We have 900 and 1700 hour terms available.

Casa Verde Builders, a program of YouthBuild Austin at American YouthWorks, is a national leader in combining green building, affordable housing, and education in Austin, Texas. Over the past 20 years AmeriCorps members built 100+ green-built homes for low-income, first time homebuyers, conducted weatherization & home repair projects, and collaborated with Mobile Loaves & Fishes to construct tiny-homes at the CommunityFirst! Village for the chronically unhoused. Our work at Casa Verde Builders is not only physically demanding but also centers on the principles of teaching, learning, and mastering new skills. Our program invites individuals to be a part of a community that not only constructs homes but also contributes to the greater goal of fostering environmentally conscious practices and providing sustainable housing solutions for those in need.

Our commitment to sustainability is a model for the Climate Corps programs now in development, focusing on projects that promote sustainable development and social equity. Casa Verde Builders offers a Solar Training Certificate program where we strive to bring renewable energy solutions to marginalized communities.

As part of Casa Verde Builders (CVB), corpsmembers will receive construction training in NCCER core curriculum, OSHA 10, Solar Training Certificate & CPR/First Aid. Crews will work on new construction, tiny homes, weatherization, solar & home repair projects for marginalized communities. Members will assist as crew leaders of our YouthBuild crews helping to organize & lead projects. Sure, it's physical – we won't sugarcoat it. You'll be outdoors, rain or shine, using hand and power tools like hammers, saws, drills, shovels. You might even find yourself climbing ladders, working on roofs, or in tight spaces. No worries if you're new to all this; all we need is your positive attitude and a passion for hard work. We're looking for go-getters between 17 and 28 years old. Worried about when to start? We offer flexible start dates. Monthly stipend of $2400.

Join CVB, where skills are built, communities are uplifted, and every day is a new adventure!

No experience or skills required, only a positive attitude & a willingness to work hard.
