Join the fight to end poverty in America. As an AmeriCorps VISTA Leader, you will help empower thousands to find decent jobs, provide for their families and save for the future.

Service Activities

Help recruit, screen and place VISTA candidates at host sites; develop, identify and provide resources, training and professional development opportunities for VISTA Members and supervisors that address administrative policies and project goals; facilitate communication and networking among members to support VISTAs in reporting, achieving their goals, building the capacity of the project and community partnerships, and shaping strategies that create a foundation for long-term sustainable community solutions; promote project successes that highlight individuals and organizations that have benefitted from the VISTA Project; and plan and execute volunteer events that create a greater awareness in the community about the struggles of people living in poverty.

Community Need Addressed

Empower individuals and families living in poverty to obtain employment and improve their financial education and management skills by building the capacity of United Way and community partners to engage volunteers that will support and enhance programs that provide job training/placement and/or other skill development services, financial education/coaching, tax preparation programs and or that increase access to financial services.

Position Outcomes

The VISTA Leader will help United Ways across the nation recruits and places talented and committed AmeriCorps VISTA candidates to serve members of their communities living in poverty. A VISTA Leader at United Way will also Ensure VISTA Members follow the rules and regulations required of them in their role as national service members; while also helping VISTA Members thrive in their roles so they can complete successfully complete their service.
