The mission of the Senior Charity Care Foundation is to improve the quality of life for elders in need. Our Foundation helps elders (age 55+) in need of items not covered by Medicaid or Medicare, such as dental care/dentures, hearing aids, and eyeglasses.

  • About Us
SCCF was created with the express purpose of providing financial assistance to low-income seniors in subsidized housing, assisted living or skilled nursing facilities who require healthcare and preventative services over and above those covered by Medicaid or Medicare.

These seniors live at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, do not have the ability to pay the full expenses of these services, and have exhausted all other potential funding. They are often faced with the shocking dilemma of having to choose between paying for rent and food or paying for healthcare. Through SCCF’s programs and services, we carry out our work to empower seniors in our communities to live healthier, fulfilled lives by providing access to affordable oral, vision and auditory healthcare.
  • Our Impact
SCCF is on track to serve 1,000 seniors in 2018 and with new AmeriCorps Members, SCCF plans to serve 3,500 seniors in the next two years.

SCCF created Mobile Dental Clinics in early 2015 to eradicate the barriers to dental services for seniors residing in care facilities and senior apartments. These clinics serve three important purposes in making regular oral health care a reality for low-income seniors:
.First, they bring the dentists and hygienists to seniors where they live at least twice per year.
.Second, services are provided at an hourly rate vs. by the procedure which reduces the overall
costs by a minimum of 30%. In one hour, a senior will receive an exam, x-rays, treatment plan,
and up to three cavities filled or up to three extractions.
.Third, they address lack of motivation by providing on-site compassionate dental care and oral
health education at the time that dental services are received. SCCF collects evaluations from
recipients of care following each visit and we have found that at least 98% of all seniors feel
    satisfied with their experience.
In the next two years, SCCF plans to expand our mobile services to include vision and audiology as well as to cover the entire state of Utah.
