With a small team of staff, the AmeriCorps member will build a curricula for a youth engagement and workforce development program, deliver youth engagement sessions, and connect young adults to career and education tracks in health services. Serve in the forefront of health systems change through youth engagement!

Service Activities

1. Work with the organization to develop a youth outreach strategy.
2. Work with the organization to develop a job training program.
3. Work with local organizations in the health field to find job training and development opportunities for the clients.

Community Need Addressed

Trends have shown that the health care field is the fastest growing job field in Alaska. This position is focuses on training and mentoring members of the Anchorage community, so they can enter this fast growing field. This would thereby give career development and job opportunities to both youth and young professionals here in Alaska.

Position Outcomes

The VISTA will help develop youth outreach, job training, mentor-ship and professional development opportunities that will help youth and young professionals start a future career in the growing health field.
