PMSC AmeriCorps Education members will provide academic assistance to K-12 students with a professionally identified special need,or who are living in high poverty school districts performing below grade proficiency in the foundational subjects of literacy and math.
Service Activities
Target Population – K-12 students in schools with 50% or greater free and reduced lunch rate or with a professional identified special need.

PA students with special needs and/or living in high poverty school districts are often performing below grade proficiency particularly in literacy and math. School districts need supplemental instruction for students who are below proficiency in the foundational subjects of literacy and math.
Position Outcomes
1,400 K-12 student in schools with 50% or greater free and reduced lunch rate or K-12 students with a professionally identified special need will show significant improvement in skills or knowledge in literacy and math scores as evidenced by a pre-post comparison of proficiency levels as per a standardized instrument/test
