Description

Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group (CBDRG) focuses on providing hope and rebuilding homes for the Coastal Bend's less fortunate in the wake of disaster. We are a local charitable non-profit hub for a network of volunteer organizations active in disaster and gracious donors, helping to match survivors' unmet needs to available recovery resources. Due to Hurricane Harvey, we are currently serving six affected counties in the Coastal Bend of Texas (Aransas, Bell, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio) with an estimated 8,000 homes to be repaired, rebuilt, or replaced. Research shows that natural disasters disproportionality impact poor and marginalized communities and that those living in poverty struggle the most to recover. To help with preparedness and resiliency of Texas communities, we are searching for a motivated individual to help develop fundraising methods and communications.

Member Duties: The Fund Development VISTA is a collaborative member of the integrated Construction Management Team with the objective to support the mission of Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group and the clients served by building a network of donor support to the organization and sustaining accountability of in-kind goods donations. Duties include research fundraising, promotion and communications, and donation facilitation methods. The VISTA member will identify prospective donors and grant resources. The VISTA member will cultivate relationships with current and past donors informing them of the progress being made by the CBDRG in communities affected by Hurricane Harvey. Additionally, the VISTA will create strategies to build partnerships across recovery organizations from various counties to share best practices and resources for disaster preparedness.
