Description
Members serve 300 hours (approximately 40-45 hours a week) at their respective sites over the course the summer. Each Minimum Time Kids on Course AmeriCorps will serve at a Kids on Course University (KCU) summer program site (an elementary school in Cedar Rapids, IA). AmeriCorps members will have the opportunity to provide classroom aid to struggling learners, perform direct tutoring instruction, and lead enrichments designed to teach valuable skills. Members will also help eliminate the distraction of hunger, which can be a barrier to learning, by overseeing the Summer Meals and Summer Backpack Program at their respective sites, serving over 50,000 meals a summer.
