Crew Member - Parks

Participants will restore a bayou, blaze trails and forest roads, install trail signs, maintain trails and recreation sites as well as provide rehabilitation to timber stands, bridges among other projects. Participants will learn about the native species and habitats of the areas where they are working and the activities the Forest Service does to protect their lands.

Service Activities

Duties include mowing, edging, sweeping, litter removal, brush removal, tree removal, sign washing, occasional fencing and guardrail repair.

Community Need Addressed

Improve the community in which you live by working on public roads, lands, and waterways (highways, municipal and rural roads and rights-of-way).

Position Outcomes

Completion of term will result in certifications such as Maintenance of Traffic, Segal education award to be used towards college, and paid on the job training hours. Member will have improved his communities public lands while also improving their own employability through skills learned and hours banked as experience.
