Description
The City of Roswell AmeriCorps After School Project ("project") will support nonprofit partner STAR House Foundation in enhancing local after school programming. The project will operate in three Title I elementary schools in Roswell, serving participating students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. City of Roswell AmeriCorps After School Project members will serve as tutors, providing academic support, with an emphasis on building literacy proficiency, as well as assisting with homework, STEM activities and health and wellness programming. Additional Benefits
Applicants to the City of Roswell AmeriCorps After School Project who are attending college may wish to check whether their school or program will allow for experiential learning hours/credits as a result of participation. AmeriCorps members may qualify for federal student loan forbearance during their service term, and AmeriCorps members age 55+ who do not wish to use the education award for themselves, may transfer the award to a family member. In addition to initial, required trainings, additional learning opportunities will be offered, as will a Member Assistance Program (MAP). Members will be instructed in virtual tutoring should it become necessary and a viable option.

Ideal candidates will be aspiring, active or retired educators, counselors, social workers, and/or nonprofit or youth professionals who welcome the opportunity to serve the needs of economically disadvantaged children in the community. Spanish language skills helpful, but not necessary.
