AmeriCorps VISTA Leader

Ensure the VISTA team members have the tools they need to achieve project goals and maintain an antipoverty
focus. Begin working with Campus Compact staff to conduct community outreach and support operations of
a community advisory board. Work with supervisor and fellow Leader to plan site visits.
Member Activity: 1. Serve as a go to for VISTA policy and resources. 2. Collaborate with VISTA
team to coordinator trainings. 3. Work on MLK Day of Service Project.
Member Activity: 4. Support member retention by providing, as needed, daily guidance, information,
attention, and resources in order to help team members overcome on-site barriers that may lead to
early termination. Identify serious issues that require assistance from Program Manager.
Member Activity: 5. Work with staff and supervisor to identify small organizations that would benefit
from VISTA and Campus Compact support

Service Activities

Help orient the team to their new roles and the anti-poverty project focus. Begin working collaboratively
with the other VISTA Leader, Campus Compact staff, and supervisor.
Member Activity: In collaboration with fellow VISTA Leader, the VISTA Leader will assist with VISTA
support and December in-service training.1. Assist with collecting required member paperwork
(driving records, background check forms, volunteer forms, etc.), and the development of member
files.
Member Activity: 2. Gather and maintain professional contact information for all members and share
with the team. 3. Assist in developing December in-service training, including preparing and
presenting trainings and team building exercises, helping secure guest speakers and facilitators, and
managing logistics.
Member Activity: 4.Review team calendar and resources and share with new VISTA team.5.
Develop program and project specific workplan.

Community Need Addressed

The Campus Compact of Oregon VISTA Program increases
educational outcomes for academically underserved and economically disadvantaged
students throughout the state of Oregon by developing culturally responsive, community
engaged programming on college campuses and with community partners. The VISTA
Leaders supports a meaningful and substantive national service experience for 16
members in the Campus Compact of Oregon AmeriCorps VISTA program as they
develop programming to address K-12 and college access and success for low-income
students.

Position Outcomes

Increase member supports and volunteer capacity for Campus Compact as well as build organizational capacity for recruitment and outreach.
