Graduation Plus- College Coach

Graduation Plus College Coaches will be assigned to a Boys & Girls Clubs high school and will lead tutoring, academic advising, college application completion, college tours, FAFSA and scholarship application activities in a cross-functional, comprehensive manner. College Coaches will assist with the planning and implementing of college access and success, life skills, and career development programming for Club members ages 14-24.

Service Activities

In addition to duties previously listed, Graduation Plus College Coaches monitor the academic progress of program participants, provide after school tutoring, make contact with parents of program participants, and serve as mentors for Graduation Plus college students.

Community Need Addressed

As one of America's long-established hyper-segregated cities, most of the young people in the Graduation Plus target area have limited exposure to adults who can help them with post-secondary education access. For this reason, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee's Graduation Plus program will provide services to 80 eligible students with indicators of high academic risk for failure throughout eight Milwaukee high schools that have been designated as perpetually low achieving schools.

AmeriCorps members will help students find academic success in high school and prepare them for success in post-secondary education.
