Position Summary

Join the global fight for a healthy climate by making a difference in local communities. Sustainability Project Coordinators help connect community members with the knowledge and resources needed to promote sustainability. 

As a Sustainability Project Coordinator, you’ll support sustainability projects, encourage local environmental action and provide education to help households decrease energy costs. With great training and support, we’ll prepare you to collaborate with community members/groups as you work together to adapt to climate change.  

We are currently recruiting for the 2023-24 program year with opportunities beginning in July, August, October and January. This is an AmeriCorps member position with the Community Resilience Initiative of Climate Impact Corps. You will join an amazing group of members, determined to help our communities. 


What to Expect

- Collaborate with the stakeholders to advance local sustainability efforts. 
- Foster a growing network of regional partners, while helping document successes and lessons learned of current partnerships/projects. 
- Help homeowners and tenants navigate energy-saving resources. 
- Expand your knowledge of climate change and clean energy.  
- Share your experience with the wider community as a Climate Impact Corps ambassador. 


Perks Package
Serve as a Sustainability Project Coordinator and receive a scalable perks package based on your time commitment of 40 or 25 hours per week.

40 hours/week perks:

A stipend of $1,100 paid every 2 weeks
- $26,400 total for 1,700 hours of service starting in July 2023
- $25,300 total for 1,700 hours of service starting in August 2023
- $20,900 total for 1,200 hours of service starting in October 2023
- $14,300 total for 900 hours of service starting in January 2024

Up to $6,895 for tuition or student loans*
- $6,495 total for members beginning their service in July 2023
- $6,895 total for members beginning their service in August 2023
- $4,826 total for members beginning their service in October 2023
- $3,447 total for members beginning their service in January 2024

Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment

Individual health insurance — Monthly premium 100% covered

Child care assistance — Based on family size and income

25 hours/week perks:

A stipend of $650 paid every 2 weeks
- $15,600 total for 900 hours of service starting in July 2023
- $14,300 total for 900 hours of service starting in August 2023
- $11,700 total for 675 hours of service starting in October 2023
- $7,800 total for 450 hours of service starting in January 2024

Up to $3,447 for tuition or student loans*
- $3,247 total for members beginning their service in July 2023
- $3,447 total for members beginning their service in August 2023
- $2,626 total for members beginning their service in October 2023
- $1,824 total for members beginning their service in January 2024

Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment

*The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ at the start of their service term may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child or step-child. 


What it Takes
Our members come from all walks of life. The most important qualification is a passion to take action for your community. However, members must meet the following minimum qualifications.  
By the time they begin their service, our members are: 

- Dependable and have a history of good attendance 
- Able to understand and follow instructions 
- Competent with basic computer skills (like using email and navigating online) 
- Fluent in English 
- 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent 
- A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States* 
- Able to successfully complete a background check

*Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.

Climate Impact Corps is powered by passionate AmeriCorps members who serve in one of three initiatives: Community Forestry, Home Energy or Community Resilience. The program was launched in 2020, to address urgent needs in Minnesota and is administered by Ampact.
