Description

Position Summary

Make an impact in Minnesota this summer and support a local school or nonprofit’s academic and enrichment programs. As a Youth Language and Enrichment Fellow, you’ll specialize in supporting students who are English Language Learners. You will lead summer learning activities designed to address the academic and social challenges that resulted from COVID-19.

We are currently recruiting for summer 2023 with opportunities beginning in May and June. This is an AmeriCorps member position with Summer Impact Corps and your commitment will be up to 40 hours per week. Join a movement dedicated to leadership through service and get things done for Minnesota!

What to Expect
- Support English Language Learners as they improve their academic language development and confidence.
- Assist with summer learning and enrichment programs.
- Foster strong and encouraging relationships with youth participants.
- Support family engagement activities.
- Promote the social, emotional and mental health well-being of youth participants.
- Commit to continuous improvement through training and professional development.
- Share your experience with the wider community as a Summer Impact Corps ambassador.

Perks Package
Give your time as a Fellow up to 40 hours per week and receive a perks package that includes:

-A stipend of $1,100 paid every 2 weeks
- $6,600 total for 300 hours
-Up to $1,374 for tuition or student loans*
-Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
-Individual health insurance — Monthly premium 100% covered
-Child care assistance — Based on family size and income

*The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child, or stepchild.

What it Takes
Youth Language and Enrichment Fellows come from all walks of life. The most important qualification is a passion to take action for your community — and meet the following minimum qualifications.

By the time they begin their service, our members are:

- Dependable with a good history of attendance
- Able to understand and follow instructions
- Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), conducting internet searches, navigating online resources, and utilizing other software like databases, email and video conferencing
- 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States*
- Able to successfully complete a background check

*Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.

About our Organization
