Description

Serving through the Mahoning Valley College Access Program in Youngstown, Ohio, AmeriCorps College Guides will expand college access services within their assigned schools through the following: Distributing postsecondary educational information to students; facilitating information sessions and programs for students and parents; Provide advising in the areas of career exploration, the college selection and application process and financial aid; Presenting college related classroom workshops; planning college tours; assisting in the planning of the College Night Program and county-wide events; Enter data into program database to track progress and success of students served; Enter monthly time and service reports into AmeriCorps OnCorps system; Participate in required AmeriCorps Service Days (5 throughout the year); Recruit a minimum of 8 volunteers throughout the year to participate in service days or to assist with events at the school or for the college access program.
