I believe in people, a strong sense of community, and change -that all individuals can enrich their community. I believe in a strong sense of community because I believe in the power of people. When people band together, a voice of change is created. This change can be minute or grandiose, but all change is significant. To create change, education is essential. Education is a powerful platform for change. I hope to use mine to make an impact with Social Work. I’m interested in working with City Year because I resonate with its purpose. I strongly believe in the necessity of programs creating community cohesion and granting more access to education. As a social worker, I would like to dedicate my career to being an agent of change in communities. There is not a more impactful and needed place to instigate change than the education system in America.
