The mission of American YouthWorks (AYW) is to provide young people with opportunities to build careers, strengthen communities, and improve the environment through education, on-the-job training, and service to others. Our YouthBuild (YB) Program is a holistic youth services program that combines academics with career training, leadership development, and community service at no cost to our students. We offer young adults, ages 16 to 24, the opportunity to complete their education by earning a high school diploma or GED. Students also receive paid career training and certification in computer technology, healthcare, or green construction. In this position, the VISTA will build the capacity to expand impactful programming through the development of new partnerships, marketing, and event planning.

Service Activities

Utilize Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and Tik Tok to expand social media presence and increase participants and partnerships within the YB programs.
Develop social media SOP to be adopted by the program
Develop and implement marketing materials that communicate YB student's stories and successes to the Central Texas community.
Conduct needs assessment and develops a partnership mapping tool for all YB departments
Work with key stakeholders, community organizations, and individuals dedicated to expanding service to Opportunity Youth in the Central Texas Area
Build upon the existing recruitment plan with emphasis on how to engage alumni in the recruitment process

Community Need Addressed

Conduct a Needs Assessment to increase Opportunity youth 16-24 to enroll in YouthBuild (YB) programming. Develop and map partnership relations to increase awareness of YB programming and identify resources for YB partipants. Create and design communication materials that address and target local opportunity youth 16-24. Plan and coordinate events on campus and within the community to highlight the work of YB programming. Establish a plan to engage alumni in recruitment efforts.

Position Outcomes

Increase diversity within YB participants, increase knowledge and referrals from local nonprofits, increase brand awareness as well as increase service opportunities for YB participants. Develop a marketing plan that can executed yearly.
