SIPP in partnership with the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) are seeking an intern to assist in developing their portfolio through: drafting press releases, working on briefing documents, developing web and social media content, conducting research around current policies. The intern will provide additional resources for public outreach that better explain how OSMRE protects the environment through the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA).

Community Need Addressed

Stewards Individual Placement Program (SIPP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. This position will work with a federal agency to build institutional capacity, develop community relationships, and support ecosystem health.

Position Outcomes

This outreach, coupled with the ability to communicate the information clearly, helps develop more public awareness about the environment and ongoing efforts to support it. Professional development opportunities will be available throughout, as the intern will meet with OSMRE staff to learn about communications and outreach programs, develop a portfolio of work during the internship, and have a number of other opportunities for growth over the course of the internship.
