The Serve Illinois Commission is the central hub for volunteerism and national service in Illinois. Our mission is to improve Illinois communities by enhancing volunteerism and instilling an ethic of service across the state, with a vision toward and Illinois where all citizens recognize their ability and responsibility to help strengthen their communities through voluntary service.

What is Serve Illinois?

Serve Illinois oversees all aspects of program administration and training for the AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps provides trained, dedicated people to help non-profit organizations accomplish their missions and to make more effective use of volunteers. AmeriCorps members assist in meeting locally identified community-based needs. The Serve Illinois Commission envisions an Illinois where all citizens recognize their ability and responsibility to help strengthen their communities through voluntary service. The Commission strives to create expanded and meaningful volunteerism throughout rural, suburban, and urban Illinois involving people of all backgrounds, cultures, and ages. The Commission envisions volunteers making measurable differences in their communities because they are well trained, supported, and on the cutting edge of problem solving.
