These members will be doing hands-on repairs to provide necessary and critical repairs to low-income veteran, elderly, and disabled homeowners. Members will also serve alongside and train volunteers from across the country in these services.

Service Activities

Members will provide repairs services that may including siding repair and replacement, wheelchair ramp construction, weatherization repairs, grab bars and railings repair and installation, painting, drywall, and flooring. Members will also instruct and supervise volunteers on a day-to-day basis on these repair services.

Community Need Addressed

This position serves low income elderly, disabled, veteran, and single head-of-household homeowners with young children who do not have the means to afford home and/or accessibility repairs, thus forcing them to live in a unsafe and unhealthy home. After your training period, you will be supervising volunteers and alongside them be making repairs on homes that could include: drywall installation for hurricane victims, wheelchair ramp construction, siding repair, painting, grab bar installation, and more.

Position Outcomes

This position will increase RTNO's capacity to provide low-income homeowners with safe and healthy housing. The repairs that you will make in this position decreases the chance of fall in the home while increasing the independence, mental/ physical health, and upward mobility of the homeowner. The positive work environment provided by you for volunteers will also increase our community connection and engagement.
