The AmeriCorps Program Coordinator is the face of Reading Partners in elementary schools, responsible for implementing our traditional and distance learning programs, or a hybrid of the two, in partnership with other AmeriCorps members and/or Reading Partners staff. They accomplish this by leading the full-time program coordination, operations, and relationship development at their school. The Program Coordinator also serves as the site’s full-time lead for family, student, and volunteer engagement support, ensuring their success in the Reading Partners Traditional or Reading Partners Connects (RPCx) program. Note that this role may shift as-needed based on how individual school environments shift given Covid-19. This is not a remote position except when mandated by local and/or organizational Covid protocols.

Community Need Addressed
Our school-based AmeriCorps members will serve directly with community volunteers and elementary students, in schools, in order to ultimately address the literacy crisis and provide the highest quality literacy support possible. After receiving education & literacy training, our members train and manage community volunteers, directly tutor and assess students, and develop strong and lasting relationships with everyone on the school's campus to make a lasting and positive impact on each of our students.
With the support of our AmeriCorps members, elementary school students who struggle in reading will end the school year closer to mastering the reading fundamentals necessary to become confident learners across all subjects.
