High School PE/Health Teacher

The High School PE/Health Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing lessons and which promote and develop an understanding of healthy body function and exercise; motivate students to promote physical fitness and appropriate emotional and social adjustment; discover and develop the unique gifts and opportunities of each students; help develop strength, skill, agility, and coordination through individual and team activities, according to each student's ability.

This position requires additional service through after-school activity support and bus driving.

Service Activities

Classroom instruction, homeroom teacher, monitoring, and assisting with other needs of Red Cloud High School. Bus driving. Mentoring.

Community Need Addressed

This position, in conjunction with the Red Cloud Volunteer and AmeriCorps programs, will provide Physical Education and Health instruction for grades 9-12 in addition to academic enrichment in the after-school space and bus driving support.

Position Outcomes

Students will learn about and begin to implement healthy life-style choices and receive tools to make these choices.

Through the after-school space, students will also develop increased social and emotional capacities, as well as academic enrichment that will increase student achievement in STEM-related areas.

Through bus driving, the AmeriCorps member will meet a critical need of helping Red Cloud students get to and from school.
