Fifth Grade Teacher

The fifth-grade teacher is responsible for supervision of students inside and outside the classroom; development and implementation of lesson plans, including both individual and group instruction, which follow curriculum guidelines; collaboration with fellow teachers, aides, and administration to address instruction and/or classroom issues; regular communication with students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and classroom issues; assistance with after-school programs.

Occasional school support as a bus driver is also a part of service, and we will provide training to get you your CDL!

Service Activities

Classroom instruction, lesson planning and implementation, support operations of Red Cloud Elementary School after-school activities and bus-driving.

Community Need Addressed

This position will provide for the education of approximately 20 fourth-graders on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where shortages of qualified teachers are common.

Position Outcomes

Students will develop and meet fifth-grade learning objectives in preparation for advancement to the next grade.
