Do you think of Girl Scouts as just cookies, camps and crafts? Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GNEST), located in Dallas, Texas will expand your view as you experience 21st-century Girl Scouting focused on building girls of courage, confidence, and character through hands-on, skill building opportunities. At Girl Scouts, girls learn the skills, have the experiences, and cultivate the relationships that enable them to soar in life. The Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas VISTA program will build capacity in areas aligned with Girl Identity, Financial Literacy, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math, and Outdoor Leadership to prepare the next generation of female leaders. VISTA members will help reach more girls through recruitment and a new alternative delivery model, the Girl Scout Academy. GSNET serves 4,000+ low income girls that attend Title 1 schools in partnership with their local Dallas, Tyler and Longview ISD’s. These community partnerships deliver programming to girls in during and after school weekly sessions. Through the Girl Scout Academy model, the VISTA Members will help expand GSNET’s reach to provide more opportunities to girls in both low-income and Spanish speaking communities by engaging with strategic partners, community organizations and schools to host Girl Scout troops in areas not traditionally served with the Girl Scout program

Position Outcomes
