Work with the American Red Cross Nevada Chapter, serving alongside paid and volunteer staff, provide direct service to clients of the American Red Cross through the accomplishment of National Preparedness & Response Corps goals and objectives. Members will complete projects that enhance organizational service delivery, expand community resources while developing their professional skill base throughout the Northern Nevada Chapter.

Service Activities

Develop and implement programs that engage youth in the Las Vegas area in Red Cross activities, conduct
community disaster education to ensure families are better prepared for disaster, respond directly to local and beyond local disaster
events, recruit, train and lead volunteers, assist with outreach at community events.
Attend staff meetings when possible, attend position related trainings

Community Need Addressed

It is vital that community members and youth be prepared for disasters and due to an increasing population in the Reno area and Winnemucca, there is a need to increase outreach efforts to this larger population. This can be accomplished by recruiting and training volunteers to assist with outreach and education and by attending community outreach events. The number of people who receive disaster preparedness training and information will be counted and recorded in a database and the number of volunteers recruited will also be counted and recorded.
