Our mission is to partner with school districts to ensure all children are reading at or above grade level by third grade. • About Us
  More than any other resource, literacy can change the trajectory of a child’s life. Literacy First is a high quality, comprehensive, research based, English and Spanish literacy tutoring program that supports students, families in the Austin community. Literacy First members tutor kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students one-on-one daily. The children we work with typically arrive at school without the background and skills that are critical for learning to read, and are likely to fall behind without additional support.
• Our Impact
  On average, more than 80% of Literacy First students make accelerated and measurable progress and more than 50% reach or exceed grade level benchmarks in one year.
  
  On average, 99.7% of students served by Literacy First are promoted to the next grade.
  
  Literacy First tutors worked with 80% of those K-2 students that moved from being identified as at-risk to not-at-risk over the course of a year.
  
  Literacy First 2nd graders who reach grade level pass the state-mandated reading assessment (STAAR) at a 30% higher rate than their peers not in the program.
