Take the initiative in creating surveys, preparing reports, coordinating guest speakers, and assisting with award ceremonies. Service Activities

Contract Position:

Supervisor: Rebecca Singhavong, Board Chair (Project Director)

Responsibilities for Year 1 Program Coordinator:

Conducting research on funding opportunities, encompassing foundation, local, and capital funding sources.
Monitoring, evaluating, and analyzing contemporary trends and best practices in early childhood education curriculum design.
Aiding in the formulation of a community outreach strategy for Latinas Leading Tomorrow's extended program.

Community Need Addressed

The VISTA member for the Latinas Leading Tomorrow project plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission. The overarching goal is to strengthen the organization's infrastructure, foster community partnerships, and secure long-term resources to combat poverty effectively in the communities served. A. Creation and Management of Collaborative Documents: Collaborate closely with the program coordinator to create and manage Google Docs and collaborative platforms. B. Implementation of a Database Project: Take charge of the database project, a critical organizational strategy. C. Grant Information Gathering: Actively engage in collecting grant-related information through thorough research. D. Data Analysis and Reporting: Play a central role in analyzing data collected through the database project. E. Community Outreach and Partnership Building: Build strong relationships and partnerships within the community, a cornerstone of the project.

Position Outcomes

The desired outcome of the VISTA member's role in the Latinas Leading Tomorrow project is to enhance the organization's capacity to combat poverty effectively in the communities served. This includes:

Efficient creation and management of collaborative documents to streamline communication and coordination. Successful implementation of a database project to track program data and outcomes accurately. Thorough gathering of grant-related information to secure essential resources for program sustainability. Central role in data analysis and reporting to measure program impact and inform decision-making.
Building strong community relationships and partnerships to address the root causes of poverty collaboratively. Ultimately, these efforts aim to strengthen LLT's infrastructure, foster community engagement, and secure long-term resources to empower Latinas and their families to achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency.

Skills you will gain

Non-Competitive Eligibility Once you've successfully completed service in AmeriCorps VISTA, you will receive one year of non-competitive eligibility for employment in the federal government. This special hiring status enables you to apply for federal jobs with the advantage of not having to go through the standard public competitive selection process. That means that you can be appointed to federal positions that may not be available to the general public. In addition, your application could be processed faster than others. While this is a great advantage, it does not guarantee you a federal job, but it does provide a valuable opportunity!
