Description
COVID-19 Recovery AmeriCorps members serving 1200 hours over 36 weeks will be partnered with the following organizations across Iowa:
Cedar Rapids: Horizons, A Family Service Alliance- Food Security
Establish evaluation to move Meals on Wheels clients to integrated platform for services. Support Meals on Wheels operations including managing and training volunteers and delivering hot meals.
Council Bluffs: New Visions Homeless Services- Housing/Homeless Services
Serve with New Visions Homeless Services to receive guests into the shelter and provide orientation and essential items. Assist guests who are not eligible for shelter at New Visions in finding resources to meet their needs.
Des Moines: IMPACT Community Action Partnership- Economic Support Programming
Serve residents of 5 central Iowa counties through processing applications and connecting resources through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program and Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Des Moines: Oakridge Neighborhood- Food Security
Serve with the Oakridge community to increase accessibility to the food pantry through a client access area that is open 24/7. Provide nutrition and food educational programming to residents
Iowa City: CommUnity Crisis Services & Food Pantry- Food Security
Train and supervise volunteers in the self-choice food pantry. Organize warehouse donations and deliveries. Support food pantry distribution on site and at mobile distribution locations
Waterloo: Northeast Iowa Food Bank- Food Security
Address hunger in 16 NE Iowa counties through preparing and distributing meals with the Kid’s Café and summer feeding program, repacking bulk food items, and processing food rescue donations.
