AmeriCorps members will serve at Horizon Education Centers, working with preschool and school-age children. Daily tasks include implementing pre-made nutrition and fitness activities for preschool and school age children, connecting families to community resources that address health and nutrition needs, and providing health and nutrition information to families. Other activities will include professional development opportunities, community service project planning, and distributing food at mobile food pantries.

Community Need Addressed

Horizon Education Centers will engage 8 minimum time AmeriCorps members to provide childhood Obesity prevention programming in the cities of Berea, Cleveland, Elyria, Lakewood, Lorain and North Olmsted, Ohio.

Position Outcomes

The children we are serving will have an increased knowledge of nutrition and widened scope of physical activities that they will apply in their daily lives.
