With a strong record of developing reciprocal, respectful, active, and democratic partnerships, George Washington University (GWU) in downtown Washington DC is seeking a VISTA to serve as a School Partnerships Fellow in the Office of School Improvement and Supports (OSIS) in the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS).
In 2019, DCPS launched the Connected School Initiative to serve students and families furthest from opportunity. Connected Schools partner with the community to make schools spaces that support not only a student’s academic development, but also a family’s overall wellbeing. Connected Schools provide an integrated approach to academics, health and social services, youth development, and community engagement in order to ensure students thrive in school and in life.
The VISTA will increase the capacity of the DCPS Connected Schools Initiative through the creation of new tools. Specifically, the VISTA will support the launch of a new data system for the Connected Schools Initiative, as well as develop communication campaigns using various mediums, including social media. We are seeking candidates who excel in relationship-building and have strong project management and communication skills. This is a full-time (40hrs a week) 12-month service term with the GW/DCPS AmeriCorps VISTA Program. The project term is based on the start date.
